October Online Exhibition

Thanks to the Guild members who submitted images to be shared and critiqued. Thanks to Jack Renner for his comments about the images. Jack is basically a lifelong photographer who has studied with the luminaries of the contemporary photographic world. His knowledge of good images is reflected in his comments below.

Bob Lind-
Nice idea, trying to tell a story about rounding a mark in a regatta, but way too many boats to pick out a specific subject focus, unless it is the yellow buoy.

Steve Bienenfeld
FIRST PLACE.  Tells a great story!  The proprietor obviously bored out of his mind, and the photo not only captures where he is working but his reaction as well!

Bill Heller
Nice idea but would have worked better with two full wind turbines.

Steve Bienenefeld
Nice graphic, but lack of basketball which the shooter has just “launched”  keeps the picture from completing the story.

Frank Leith
Nice, but dull, even for a night shot.  Could have cloned the bare branches on the tree to make things more interesting.

Frank Leith
Nice leading lines but the sensor spots in the sky and the bright pile of debris on the right  should have been dealt with.  If so, image would have been much better.

Debbie Filkins
Doesn’t do a thing for me.  Just a nice snapshot.

Debbie Filkins
Gross.  Does nothing for me!

Bob Lind
Have seen way too many shots of this cove.  Could have been improved by moving camera vantage point to the left and having a straight horizon.

Hilja Bergey
Is this a shot of fishing boats or cruise ships? Not sure what is the true subject.

Carol Chabot
SECOND PLACE.  Very nice with leading lines from canoes.  Some slight highlight burnout, but not a deal breaker.

Carol Chabot
THIRD PLACE.  Nice black and white.  Tells a story, but would have been better to crop in closer on the person.  Too much “other” stuff in the image.

Hilja Bergey
Misty harbor shot and not much else.

Bill Heller
There have been hundreds of pictures taken of this iconic tree.  Composition would have been improved by moving to the left.
